Boral Sponsors Sustainable Living Fair

Boral embraces the principle of sustainable development, ‘being development that meets the needs of the present, without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs’. Boral believe this principle is fundamental to continued success and growth.

Locally Boral supports a range of community organisations including: The Caboolture Region Environmental Education Centre (CREEC), Pine Rivers Catchment Association, Koala Action Pine Rivers, Landcare, Conservation Volunteers Australia and Pine Rivers Fish Management Association.

Located on 150 Rowley Road at Burpengary, CREEC is a community facility developed to provide environmental education to residents in the local area.

On Saturday 2 June, the Sustainable Living Fair will be held at CREEC. The Fair is an opportunity to celebrate the environment and embrace the principles of sustainable development - it is CREEC's signature annual event. On the day, live demonstrations, workshops and guest speakers, will combine fun and education to explain and demonstrate the principles of sustainable development.

Boral have supported the Sustainable Living Fair for the past six years with 'in kind' and monetary donations. This year is no exception - Boral have become a major sponsor of the fair with a donation of $3000.00 towards the event.

The President of the Friends of CREEC Association, Rodney Blair, is happy to have the support of Boral behind them.

'We are fortunate to have a sponsor to assist us in spreading environmental sustainability messages. Who better to have on board than a company that is living the sustainable message every day?' Mr Blair said.

Boral is raising the bar across the construction materials industry: Boral Construction Materials Queensland was nominated a finalist in the Corporate Sustainability Award section of the 2007 Environmental Protection Agency Sustainable Industries Awards for their Changing Perceptions Strategy. Environmental best practice and corporate social responsibility were integral parts of the successful submission. Boral was proud to be one of the three finalists across Queensland in the 'Corporate Sustainability Award' category, showing leadership and innovation in the development and adoption of sustainable management practices.
