Working Mondays and Wednesdays, a team of 6+ volunteers is restoring the Riparian Rainforest vegetation. They are covering around 5 hectares with the current activities.
The CREEC site was previously a Pine Forest. Fortunately some excellent remnant creek vegetation remains. For example, we have some ancient Figs, Blue Quondong, and Foam Bark trees
We welcome people walking through and plan to enhance their visits with more paths and interpretive signage.
As the forest is in many stages of restoration , we are employing a variety of recovery techniques. A key practice is known as the Bradley Method, which basically selects the best areas and clears them of weeds, causing minimal damage in the process
Some areas though, require wholesale clearing, mulching, weed matting and dense planting of primarily pioneer species, such as acacias, tremas, and breynia
